Wijngaard en regio
Afkomstig van verschillende wijngaarden rondom Cerignola in Apulië. De bodem bestaat uit klei en kalk.
Vinificatie
Na de oogst worden de druiven ontsteeld en vergist. De gisting en schilweking vindt plaats in RVS tanks op een gecontroleerde temperatuur van 25 tot 28 graden gedurende 10 dagen. Een deel van de druiven krijgt een schilweking op een lagere temperatuur om de fruitigheid te bewaren. Vervolgens rijpt een deel van de wijn een jaar in barriques en de rest in RVS tanks. Voordat het op de markt wordt gebracht, rijpt het vervolgens nog twee maanden in de fles.
Kleur :Robijnrood.
Geur : snoepjesgeur :Mix van fruit (aardbeien, kersen, mirte), kruiden (salie, rozemarijn) en vanille.
Smaak
Soepele, zachte wijn met rijp fruit (kersen, mirte) en onderliggende indrukken van kruiden. wat eucalyptus
Serveren bij
Lekker bij gerijpte kazen. Ook heerlijk bij rosbief en gekruide rollades uit de oven.

Our Estate Vineyard Syrah is a typical expression of Stellenbosch, and owner Jean Engelbrecht’s favourite variety. Chosen in 2016 as one of Wine Spectator’s top 100 wines in the world.
Vineyard
Grapes for this wine come from 7 hectares of vineyard planted on the Rust en Vrede Estate.
Ageing
18 months in 100% 500L French oak barrels, using 20% new oak.
Tasting Notes
Fragrant blueberry, red cherry, and a hint of floral perfume open up to reveal fresh plum with layered sweet and savoury spices. The complex fruit flavours follow on the palate with fine but grippy tannins and a fresh fruity acidity. Typical spiciness is layered and complex - cardamom, fennel, black pepper, nutmeg and clove, with the delicate use of oak complimenting the spiciness. Refined yet powerful with a lingering fruity finish.

A jestful caper from Spain’s trio of grapes from the RedHeads Studio team. But this is no Spanish hero. Our playful Vin’atus struts dark, brooding Aussie pizzazz and delicious dark cherry fruit. The debut 2015 vintage racked up five golds and 92pts from James Halliday...!

The 2016 underwent small batch open fermentation before being hand-plunged. We then gave the wine some extended maceration on skins to build the flavour. Matured for 14 months in oak in a combination of new and used French and American oak.
Tasting Note
Plum and sour cherry notes with white pepper, vanilla and spice, like Christmas! Silky tannins on the palate with juicy fruit to support and that lingering sweet oak notes to follow.
Food Pairing
Roast garlicky lamb or a rich rabbit stew would flatter the deep fruit and spice of the wine, spaghetti with rich puttanesca sauce or sticky ribs from the barbie.
Cellar Potential

The Proprietors blend is once again impressive and serious in 2016.
Medium to full-bodied, it is strewn with black fruits, exotic spice and chards of dark chocolate. Sweet spicy oak melts into a dense, powerfully-fruited and structured core. The majority Cabernet Sauvignon gives a cassis purity and salty edge, while the Shiraz component adds a meaty, savoury and spicy edge.
The blend is rounded off by the remaining Bordeaux cultivars in a complexity explosion from start to finish. It is exquisitely textured and finely tuned, the 2016 will open up over the next 5 years and age for a decade or more.

All my Single Vineyard Wines are made with minimal interference throughout the vinification. During fermentation natural yeast are used with no enzymes. Maturation takes place in neutral vessels to bring through the unique vineyard characteristics, that's specific to the site. The handcrafted approach by human nature helps to add to the final balance of this unique product".
My philosophy is to create great single vineyard wines from unique soil, climate and location. It's the soil with all the microbes, cycle of elements and the help of living organisms that create the heartbeat for my vines. The location towards the sun wind and holistic climatical conditions reflects the uniqueness of each vineyard

Veel mensen hebben Grenache leren kennen uit te warme gebieden, en die waren log of te oxidatief. Deze Grenache is dat niet en is bijzonder door het specifieke terroir van Piekenierskloof.

De kleur is helder rood, iets licht van kleur. De neus is na wat walsen van de wijn aromatische met aroma’s van  aardbeien, kersen en frambozen. Beetje peper. Het is een frisse, fruitige, levendige rode wijn. Ook makkelijk koel te drinken. Geniet ervan!

Serveer op 16- 18 graden. Alc. 13.5 %

Het geheim achter de wijn

Van een verborgen wijngaard met 40 jaar oude stokken met extreem lage opbrengst uit de Piekenierskloof op 800 meter hoogte. Dat geeft een enorme fruit concentratie. Daarbij zijn op de Piekenierskloof de verschillen tussen dag en nacht temperaturen heel groot. En dat geeft de druif extreem veel tijd om te rijpen.

Sicilië- Italië
Druif : Nero d'Avola - Syrah
Traditionele vinificatie in tempertuur gecontrolleerde cuve's gevolgd door een malolactischegisting en een lagering van 8 maanden in Frans en Amerikaanse vaten.
Dieprode wijn met mooie noties van rijp, rood fruit (kers en aardbei) met kruidige aroma's van kaneel en drop.
Zachte en elegante taninne en een mooie warme en lange afdronk.
