Bodega Enate is opgericht in 1984.
A jestful caper from Spain’s trio of grapes from the RedHeads Studio team. But this is no Spanish hero. Our playful Vin’atus struts dark, brooding Aussie pizzazz and delicious dark cherry fruit. The debut 2015 vintage racked up five golds and 92pts from James Halliday...!
The 2016 underwent small batch open fermentation before being hand-plunged. We then gave the wine some extended maceration on skins to build the flavour. Matured for 14 months in oak in a combination of new and used French and American oak.
Tasting Note
Plum and sour cherry notes with white pepper, vanilla and spice, like Christmas! Silky tannins on the palate with juicy fruit to support and that lingering sweet oak notes to follow.
Food Pairing
Roast garlicky lamb or a rich rabbit stew would flatter the deep fruit and spice of the wine, spaghetti with rich puttanesca sauce or sticky ribs from the barbie.
Cellar Potential
The Wine
This wine really plays to the strengths of RedHeads – each year, we select the very best parcels
of McLaren Vale Shiraz. We don’t tie ourselves to one grower or one area, but search out where
Nature has been most magnanimous in her gifts of good weather and where growers have
made full use of what she has bestowed.
What we can guarantee each year is richness of fruit and real power, all wrapped in the soft
vanilla tones of larger American oak. Consistently gorgeous, luscious and totally irresistible.
Tasting Note
Deep purple-toned crimson. Brooding aromas of dark red fruits (plums and mulberries) with
the sweet scent of cedary oak. Liquid velvet with spicy blackberry and raspberry power,
nishing on notes of smoky liquorice, generously wrapping a framework of rounded tannins.
Food Pairing
While Zinfandel has roots in Croatia, it’s best known as California’s signature grape. Zinfandel was planted in California in the early 19th Century. Our 2016 features fruit from Lodi which is one of the state’s up and coming regions for Zinfandel. The remainder of the fruit
hails from Lake County located northwest of Napa County. While predominantly Zinfandel (75%), Petite Sirah was blended in to add more colour along with more white pepper and spicy aromas.
2016 was a prime vintage producing high quality fruit. Overall the season was earlier than average with moderate temperatures which allowed for even ripening and balanced avours. is helped to reach our goal to produce a crisper, fresher style.
We harvested all of the fruit in the cool morning hours from September 17th - October 25th, 2016. Due to an early harvest, the wine has less raisin and more pure Zinfandel flavors.
La Caduta is the name of a splendid 7.5 hectare vineyard located to the south of Montalcino, a
part of which Caparzo decided to dedicate to the production of a Rosso di Montalcino cru.
Therefore, Rosso di Montalcino DOC La Caduta is a step above the average wine of the
Appellation, and represents an exception to the rule that considers Rosso di Montalcino to be
Brunello's younger brother; in this sense few other Rossi can compare to La Caduta.
VIGNETO LA CADUTA:
Located in the southwest part of the Montalcino appellation, it ranges from 280 to 300 meters
above sea level, and is influenced by marine breezes. The terrain is consists of polygenic
conglomerates, coarse sandstones, eurite clasts, and sands.
HARVEST: manual.
PRIMARY FERMENTATION: 7 days at a controlled temperature of 28 to 30 °C, followed by
delestages and pump overs. Because of the superb quality of the skins, the wine is kept in
100% Sangiovese
Caparzo's Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is only produced in the finest vintages, from grapes selected personally by winemaker Massimo Bracalente. The grapes are in part from from vineyards located in the northern part of the Montalcino Appellation, at an elevation of 220 meters above sea level, and in part from vineyards south of Montalcino, at an elevation of 270 meters. In both cases the vineyards are on sandy-stony south-southeast facing Pliocene terrains. The Riserva begins to show its best several years after bottling. Produced in limited quantities, the Riserva is destined to especially passionate, attentive wine lovers. A classic, complete Riserva able to awaken unique sensations in the most expert palates. The first Caparzo Riserva Brunello di Montalcino DOCG was produced in 1980. The wine has the capacity to age for up to 40 years. HARVEST: manual selection.
